Craving, Building, Declaring

This morning, we read 1 Peter 2:1-12 and talked about 3 things that God wants us to do.
1. Craving - we should crave pure "spiritual milk", that is, the things that Jesus offers that make us grow.
2. Building - as we come to Jesus, the living stone, we also, like living stones, are built into a spiritual house.
3. Declaring - we are a chosen people belonging to God that we may declare His praises by letting what we believe shine through our lives.
Which of these 3 images used by Peter in this section spoke the most to you today?
I loved all of these images but if I can only pick one, I would pick the "building" image. Pastor Henry picked up some lego-duplo pieces and the first one represented Jesus, the living stone. As we are all built into Jesus, the foundation or living stone, we, like living stones, are built into a church.

Jewels,
The image of craving the things of God like a newborn baby craves milk when they are hungry spoke to me.
I can remember when our children where newborns and the intensity with which they craved food when they were hungry. Now that they are older, although the food may be different, the intense cravings are still there :)
The image of craving God with a smililar intensity was a both a powerful image and reminder for me.
I too felt taht the image of craving God was one that I identified with. Newborns die without milk. Do I really crave God as desperately? I should. I want to. At times I do. God grant his Spirit to nurture that craving!
Wow, 2 comments already! I loved the craving thing too! Such a great reminder of what we should be filling ourselves with...
Alright Jewels,
Here is another comment.
When we were asked what came to our mind when we heard the word delcare, someone (I believe it was Cathy) talked about the image that came to them; the image of someone standing and talking calmly and confidently because what they were declaring was coming from within them. They talked calmly and confidently because what they were saying was something they beleived so it just flowed out of them.
This comment spoke to me about what declaring is all about. The image forced me to answer, "Do my words and my actions calmly and confidently declare the praises of God because they flow out of something I believe deep down inside of me?"
Declaring something from within flows out naturally, calmly, and confidently. It doesn't have to be obnoxious or manufactured. It just flows.
I was thankful for this image. This is what I long for in my own life.
Oh yes, I loved that picture!
The eclair image Cathy gave was good too :)
What I love about the "living stones" imagery is that when built into a spiritual house, we all rely on the foundation to keep from sinking but we also rely on eachother to stay put, resist wind and rain together, and create the walls of the home.
Talk about DECLARING something with knowledge and confidence. Listen to this testimony:

I think this is the video Cathy wants you to see.
Yes, that is the testimony! Thank you Julia!
Dear Anonymous--Have your cravings increased? I am praying for that!! If you're a woman, please talk to me about a couple of Bible studies that are starting soon. One of those may increase your appetite for God's Word in your diet.
