So Much to Be Thankful For

Today at MCC we had a Thanksgiving weekend service where we especially reflected on everything for which we were thankful. Pastor Henry then spoke to us about Genesis 3, the story of the fall and found 3 things God said or did that we can be thankful for.

1. When Adam & Eve hid in the garden, He said, "Where are you?" It is amazing to think that even when we sin & hide from Him, He cares so much about us and wants a relationship with us.

2. God provides a way out, provides separation. God hates sin, so sinners must be punished. God made Adam & Eve leave paradise because if they had continued to eat of the tree of life, they would have lived forever, and eternal life in a state of sin would mean forever trying to hide from God.

3. God provides new clothes, new life. When Adam & Eve realized their nakedness, he provided them with clothing. Later, he provides new life for us when His Son died & was risen for us. See Colossians 3.

I was touched when Pastor Henry gave the closing blessing with his sleeping son in his arms. It seemed like an appropriate picture of the morning's service. Doesn't God our Father hold us in his arms of love, knowing where we are and providing what we need at just the right time? So much to be thankful for.
